We Want You!
We want YOU to become involved with downtown Havre de Grace revitalization activities, to serve on a committee, or to take part in a specific project relating to your personal interests and skills. In Havre de Grace we have a wealth of knowledge, with creative, talented, and educated people. Many of them are active volunteers on Main Street committees now but as the organization grows we need more help to accomplish our goals!
We welcome anyone interested to lend a hand by volunteering to serve on one of our committees. Or, if you don’t wish to serve on a committee, but can spare a little time occasionally to help us with tasks, we would greatly appreciate it. This is a wonderful way to get involved in your local community, to meet new friends who also want to make Havre de Grace a better place, and to have a say in what happens here.
Some of the areas and examples of ways in which we could particularly benefit from even a short amount of your time are:
- Computer and database maintenance (how to keep them functioning effectively?)
- Economic development (how do we fill those empty store spaces?)
- Event planning (how do we efficiently coordinate all the steps?)
- Press relations (how do we most effectively get press attention?)
- Historic preservation (how can we save those historic buildings?)
- Promoting membership (how can we add membership value?)
- Grant writing (how can we get funding?)
- Setup and breakdown at First Fridays and other events (how can we more easily handle the labor?)
- Watering the plants in the new containers downtown (how can we get those plants to flourish?)
